Attending the ISB Congress 2025 in Stockholm

I’m excited to announce that I’ll be attending the ISB Congress 2025 in Stockholm this July!

During the congress, I’ll be presenting our latest work on jaw biomechanics and rehabilitation technology:

“A Jaw Model Framework for the Development of an Exoskeleton to Treat Temporomandibular Disorders”

This research introduces an open-source, customizable framework featuring three distinct jaw models built on Project Chrono. The work addresses a significant gap in rehabilitative exoskeleton research by focusing on temporomandibular disorders (TMDs) affecting the masticatory system. Our framework includes innovative modeling approaches for temporomandibular joints (TMJs) and provides the foundation for developing exoskeletons that could assist in TMD physiotherapy.

Key highlights of our work include:

  • Three jaw model variants balancing accuracy and computational efficiency
  • Novel TMJ disc modeling with connections to lateral pterygoid muscles
  • Open-source framework available on GitHub
  • Foundation for jaw exoskeleton research and development

I’m looking forward to presenting this work, getting feedback from the biomechanics community, and learning about the latest advances in the field. The congress promises to be an excellent opportunity to connect with researchers working on similar challenges in rehabilitation robotics and biomechanical modeling. If you’re interested in the details, you can find more about the symposium on their official website.
